Start Run shell:AppsFolder to get to the dumb hidden app folder. pin Xbox to taskbar. hold shift+ctrl and click to run in admin mode. hit install on gamepass, but before running first time right click on icon and create desktop shortcut. right click that to run as admin and should at least bring up the launcher, which worked for me at that.

Xbox Game Pass for PC is a frustrating mess. There's no denying that Xbox Game Pass is one of the most appealing business models around. It lets subscribers download and play hundreds of games. Just uninstall the Apps/games by right clicking them. I did so and the space was not reclaimed on my SSD, which is around 40 GB for SoT and ReCore. I have Xbox GamePass for PC installed and bought a $5 PC subscription but when I click on a game, the install button doesn’t appear. It is only appearing as if I don’t have GamePass and gives the buy now option. Edit: Was able to download through the Microsoft store app.
